PREFABRICATED PORTABLE UNIT

GENERAL
THE PORTACABINS ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE INSTANT ACCOMMODATION ESPECIALLY SUITABLE FOR SITE PROJECTS IN THE GULF CLIMATIC CONDITIONS COMBINING THE ADVANTAGES OF OCCUPYING MINIMUM OF SPACE AND TIME FOR ERECTION. THE UNIT FEATURES AESTHETIC FINISHES WITH INTERNAL FITTINGS FACTORY-INSTALLED, REQUIRING EXTERNAL HOOK-UP TO EXISTING SERVICES AT PROJECT SITE.


FLOOR
FLOOR CHASSIS IS FULLY FABRICATED WITH MS STEEL. 100x50mm MS CHANNEL PERIMETER FRAME WITH LONGITUDINAL MS I-BEAM IN THE CENTRE & LATERAL MS I-BEAM AT 2m INTERVALS. FLOORING IS 18mm ‘KORINDO’ PLYWOOD FIXED WITH RIVETS ON 50mmx50mm MS ANGLE JOISTS. FLOORING IS HEAVY-DUTY VINYL-FLOORING WITH HEAT-WELDED JOINTS. ALL STEEL FRAMING IS PRIMED WITH RED-OXIDE AND FINISHED WITH TWO COATS OIL-BASED ENAMEL GLOSS PAINT.


WALLS
WALL PANEL IS 57mm THICK, SANDWICH-TYPE PRE-PRESSED PANEL, WITH 6mm ‘KORINDO’ PLYWOOD EXTERNALLY FIXED ON 47mm X 50mm TIMBER STUD-FRAME AND DECORATIVE WOODGRAIN STYLE PLYWOOD ON INTERNAL WALLS. INSULATION IS RIGID 47mm POLYSTYRENE BOARD. EXTERNAL WALL SURFACE IS COATED WITH ALL-WEATHER HEAVY-TEXTURED PAINT APPLIED ON UNDERCOAT PRIMER, PLUS PROTECTIVE WATERPROOF OIL-BASED TOPCOAT. AIR-COND APERTURES ARE STANDARD FITTED WITH STEEL SUPPORT BRACKETS.

TOILET/KITCHEN WALL FINISH IS PAINTED WIITH TWO COATS WATERPROOF ENAMEL PAINT WITH SKIRTINGS SUITABLY SEALED WITH SILICONE SEALANT.


ROOF/CEILING
26G CORRUGATED ALUMINIUM SHEETING FIXED WITH BITUMEN-WASHER ROOF NAILS ON WHITEWOOD PURLINS. ROOF TRUSSES ARE DOUBLE PITCHED AT 2.4m SPACING. CEILING IS SUSPENDED TYPE WITH 6mm BOARD AND BEADINGS ALONG THE JOINTS, FINISHED WITH WHITE LIGHT-TEXTURED PAINT. ROOF CAVITY IS INSULATED WITH 50mm POLYSTYRENE INSULATION.


DOORS
200x90 SEMI-SOLID, FLUSH TYPE SET IN MERANTI FRAME, FITTED WITH ‘UNION’ LOCK AND 3 BRASS HINGES. INTERNAL SURFACE IS DECORATIVE BOARD TO MATCH WITH WALL FINISH. EXTERNAL FINISH IS TWO COATS ENAMEL GLOSS PAINT APPLIED ON 4mm PLYWOOD

WINDOWS
90cm x 90cm ANODISED, ALUMINIUM-FRAMED (‘AL GHURAIR’), HALF-SLIDING, WITH 6mm CLEAR GLASS AND INSECT SCREEN. EXHAUST WINDOWS ARE 60cm X 30cm FIXED TYPE WITH 6mm FROSTED GLASS PANEL.

FIRE-Rated Insulated Composite Panels

         TECHNICAL DATA

Composite panels are made up of fire-retardant polyurethane insulating core (35 to 40 kg/m³ density) bonded to 0.7mm prepainted aluminum sheet (shallow-ribbed) externally and 3.2mm prefinished fire-rated high-pressure phenolic laminate board internally.

3.2mm High-Pressure Laminate consists of decorative surface papers, impregnated with melamine resins, bonded under heat and pressure to kraft papers impregnated with phenolic resins. These sheets are then bonded at pressures greater than 1000 pounds per square inch at temperatures approaching 300°F (149°C). The Board is Class 1 fire-rated and exceed performance requirements of NEMA LD 3-1995 Grade SGF. Surface burning characteristics in accordance with ASTM E 84; unbonded: Flame spread 35; Smoke developed 80.

DOUBLE-PITCH 0.7mm PREPAINTED PROFILED ALUMINIUM SHEETING FASTENED WITH ROOFING SCREWS WITH NEOPRENE WASHERS, FIXED ON KILN-DREID S. P. F. TIMBER PURLINS (47mmx47mm).

Insulation R-Values

Materials vary enormously in their ability to conduct heat. Those that do not conduct it well are called insulators. R-value is the term used to indicate a material's

  • resistance to heat flow or
  • ability to insulate.

    The higher the R-value, the better the insulator.

How insulation materials work
Most insulation materials work by trapping pockets of air, which is an excellent insulator. Examples are listed in the table below.

Insulation Material

How it traps air

Fiberglass Creating air pockets between spun glass fibers.
Foam insulation Contains air bubbles.
Double pane windows Trapping air between the panes.

Selecting insulating materials
Among insulating materials R-values can vary widely. This is the reason it is important to purchase insulation by R-value and not by the inch. R-values of materials can be compared while thickness cannot. Two materials rated R-11 have precisely the same insulating ability, but 2 inches of the same R-11 materials may not.

Example: Fiberglass and brick. To achieve R-30 with fiberglass batts requires 8.5 inches, it would take 60 inches of brick to attain the same rating.
